Commentary
Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated
Having set incense and lamp in front, before the Goddess, and purified them by sprinkling and the rest, and having offered them to the Goddess, releasing them, with the mantra "hrīṁ śrīṁ krīṁ parameśvari svāhā etau dhūpa-dīpāv ādyāyai kālyai nivedayāmi", then after that, having worshipped the bell with the mantra beginning "jayadhvani-mantramātaḥ svāhā" ("Mother of mantras, sound of victory, svāhā"), ringing that bell with the left hand, the wise practitioner, taking the incense with the right hand, should place, offer, it below the Goddess's nose; and the lamp he should wave ten times before the Goddess, from the feet up to the eyes. (This explanation covers verses 84 to 86.)
