Commentary
Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated
After that, with joined palms, he should pray to the chosen deity. To the question "what should he pray?" he says "māyā-bījam…": uttering the seed of māyā, hrīṁ, he should say "śrī ādye kālike"; then "yathāśaktyā pūjitāsi kṣamasva". These are the words of the prayer: "hrīṁ śrī ādye kālike yathāśaktyā pūjitāsi kṣamasva" ("O glorious Ādyā Kālikā, you have been worshipped as far as I could; forgive me"). With these very words, having dismissed the chosen deity, taking the flower with the gesture of withdrawal and smelling it, he should place it in his own heart. (Covers verses 182 and 183.)
