Commentary

Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated

Saying the seeds vāk, māyā and kamalā, that is aiṁ hrīṁ śrīṁ, together with vaṁ, he should say the words "vaṭukāya namaḥ". Joined, the mantra "aiṁ hrīṁ śrīṁ vaṁ vaṭukāya namaḥ" is formed. With this very mantra, having worshipped Baṭuka on the eastern side of the maṇḍala, he should offer there Baṭuka's bali with the mantra "eṣa sudhāmiṣānvitānnabaliḥ aiṁ hrīṁ śrīṁ vaṁ vaṭukāya namaḥ" ("this bali of food with nectar and meat…").
