Commentary

Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated

Then, after that, having uttered māyā, the seed hrīṁ, he should utter vahnimūrti in the dative together with namaḥ. Joined, the mantra "hrīṁ vahnimūrtaye namaḥ" is formed ("to the embodied fire"). Having worshipped the embodied fire with this mantra, after that the wise practitioner should say, after "raṁ vahneḥ", "caitanyāya namaḥ". Joined, the mantra "raṁ vahnicaitanyāya namaḥ" is formed ("to the consciousness of fire"); with this very mantra he should worship the consciousness of fire.
