Meaning

The four great pīṭhas, the sacred seats of the Goddess. The commentary gives the mantras: pūṁ pūrṇaśailāya pīṭhāya namaḥ, uṁ uḍḍīyānāya pīṭhāya namaḥ, jāṁ jālandharāya pīṭhāya namaḥ, kāṁ kāmarūpāya pīṭhāya namaḥ.

Commentary

Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated

Then in the corners of the square, in the four corners of the four-cornered maṇḍala, the best of practitioners should worship Pūrṇaśaila, Uḍḍīyāna, Jālandhara and Kāmarūpa, each enriched with the seed of its own name, the first letter of its name, and each "sacaturthī-namo-'ntaka", with the dative and ending in namaḥ. That is: with "pūṁ pūrṇaśailāya pīṭhāya namaḥ" he should worship Pūrṇaśaila in the first corner; with "uṁ uḍḍīyānāya pīṭhāya namaḥ" Uḍḍīyāna in the second; with "jāṁ jālandharāya pīṭhāya namaḥ" Jālandhara in the third; with "kāṁ kāmarūpāya pīṭhāya namaḥ" Kāmarūpa in the fourth.
