Meaning

Kāmarūpakṛtāvāsā: she who has made her dwelling in Kāmarūpa, the land in Assam where the great shrine of Kāmākhyā stands, one of the most sacred seats of the Goddess. Kāmapīṭhavilāsinī: she who sports in the Kāmapīṭha, the "seat of desire", which is that same shrine and also, in the inner sense, a centre in the subtle body. Kamanīyā: lovely, desirable. Kalpalatā: the wish-fulfilling creeper of paradise. Kamanīyavibhūṣaṇā: she whose ornaments are lovely. The names place the Goddess both on the map of India and in the body of the practitioner.
