The holy times begin: the opening day of each month, year and lunar fortnight; the fourteenth and eighth lunar days; the eleventh of the bright fortnight (ekādaśī); and "kuhū", which the commentary explains as the new moon on which the last sliver of the moon has vanished. The commentary reads verses 96 to 99 together.

Commentary
Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated
Now he gives, in order, the holy times and the holy places needed for the rites of japa and of giving, in the verses beginning "māsa…". Kuhūḥ: the new moon (amāvāsyā) on which the last digit of the moon has vanished. (This explanation covers verses 96 to 99.)
