Commentary

Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated

In the verse and a half beginning "pitā" he names the ancestors to be worshipped to be freed from the debt. The order of the words is: in this way, like the father and the rest, the maternal grandfather and the rest are also to be worshipped. By "ādi" (and the rest) are meant the maternal great-grandfather and the maternal great-great-grandfather, and the maternal great-grandmother and the maternal great-great-grandmother.
