Meaning

The jar (ghaṭa or kalaśa) is the seat in which the deity will be worshipped. The commentary describes it: "vicitra", painted with various pictures; smeared with curd and unbroken rice (akṣata); set with fruit and mango leaves at its mouth; marked with vermilion. It reads verses 158 and 159 together.

Commentary

Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated

"Vicitra…" and the rest. After that, bringing a vicitra pot, one on which various pictures are painted; smeared (vimṛkṣita) with curd and unbroken rice; joined with fruits and young leaves; marked with a tilaka of vermilion; and filled with well-scented water, water made fragrant with camphor and the like: the sādhaka sets it in that maṇḍala with the praṇava, the syllable oṁ, and shows it incense and a lamp. (This explanation covers verses 158 and 159.)
