Meaning
The mantra of the homa is given in pieces and the commentary assembles it: "etāni me śuddhyantāṁ hrīṁ jyotir ahaṁ virajā vipāpmā bhūyāsaṁ svāhā", "may these of mine be purified; hrīṁ; may I be light, free of passion, free of sin; svāhā". Each tattva is named in turn at the start: for instance "prāṇāpānasamānodānavyānā me śuddhyantāṁ…", "may my prāṇa, apāna, samāna, udāna and vyāna be purified". The words "virajā" (without the dust of passion) and "vipāpmā" (sinless) come from the Upaniṣadic description of the Self. As a mantra, the line does not keep the metre.

Commentary
Hariharānanda Bhāratī’s Sanskrit commentary, translated
In the verse beginning "etāni" he gives the mantra for the homa of the five airs beginning with prāṇa, of the twenty-four tattvas beginning with earth, of the activities born of the body, of the actions of all the senses and of the actions of the airs beginning with prāṇa. First he should say "etāni me" (these of mine); and at the end of that phrase he should utter the word "śuddhyantām" (may they be purified). Then he should say "hrīṁ jyotir ahaṁ virajā vipāpmā bhūyāsam" (hrīṁ, may I be light, free of passion, free of sin). Then he should also say dviṭha, "svāhā". Put together, the mantra is: "etāni me śuddhyantāṁ hrīṁ jyotir ahaṁ virajā vipāpmā bhūyāsaṁ svāhā". With this very mantra he should offer all of them, from prāṇa and the rest to the actions of the prāṇa. For example: "prāṇāpānasamānodānavyānā me śuddhyantāṁ hrīṁ jyotir ahaṁ virajā vipāpmā bhūyāsaṁ svāhā" (may my prāṇa, apāna, samāna, udāna and vyāna be purified; hrīṁ, may I be light, free of passion, free of sin, svāhā): so he should offer prāṇa and the rest. The mantra is to be fitted in the same way everywhere.
