कृते विश्वहिते देवि विश्वेशः परमेश्वरि । प्रीतो भवति विश्वात्मा यतो विश्वं तदाश्रितम् ॥ ३३ ॥
kṛtē viśvahitē dēvi viśvēśaḥ paramēśvari | prītō bhavati viśvātmā yatō viśvaṁ tadāśritam || 33 ||
Translation
When the good of the universe is done, O Goddess, the lord of the universe, the Supreme Lord, the Self of the universe, is pleased; for the universe rests on him.

Why should doing good to the world please God? Because, the commentary answers, he is the self of the world: the world rests in him, so its good is his.
