Viniyogah

ॐ अस्य श्रीउत्तरचरित्रस्य रुद्र ऋषिः, महासरस्वती देवता, अनुष्टुप् छन्दः, भीमा शक्तिः, भ्रामरी बीजम्, सूर्यस्तत्त्वम्, सामवेदः स्वरूपम्, महासरस्वतीप्रीत्यर्थे उत्तरचरित्रपाठे विनियोगः।

ōṁ asya śrīuttaracaritrasya rudra ṛṣiḥ, mahāsarasvatī dēvatā, anuṣṭup chandaḥ, bhīmā śaktiḥ, bhrāmarī bījam, sūryastattvam, sāmavēdaḥ svarūpam, mahāsarasvatīprītyarthē uttaracaritrapāṭhē viniyōgaḥ |

Translation

Om. Of this final episode (Uttara Charita), Rudra is the seer, Mahasarasvati the deity, Anushtubh the metre, Bhima the power, Bhramari the seed and the Sun the principle; the Sama Veda is its form. It is applied in the recitation of the final episode for the pleasure of Mahasarasvati.

Meaning

This is a ritual prescription for reciting this chapter (referred to as Uttara Charitra). It assigns: Seer (Ṛṣiḥ): Rudra; Deity (Devatā): Mahāsarasvatī; Meter (Chandaḥ): Anuṣṭup; Power (Śaktiḥ): Bhīmā (The Terrifying); Seed Syllable (Bījam): Bhrāmarī; Element (Tattvam): Sūrya (Sun); Form (Svarūpam): Sāmaveda; Purpose: To please Mahāsarasvatī.

About chapter 5After hearing the praise of Ambika’s form from the mouths of Chanda and Munda, and the hymn of the Goddess sung by the gods, Shumbha sent a messenger to her; but the messenger returned disappointed.
