Meaning

The hymn begins a profound philosophical declaration, identifying the Goddess as Vishnumaya—the divine power of illusion that pervades all beings and the entire cosmos. This power (Maya) is what creates, sustains, and dissolves the universe. The salutation expresses deep reverence. The gods continue their reverence, repeating their salutation to emphasize their complete surrender to the Goddess as Vishnumaya.
