Meaning

What is wonderful is that Rāma has seen the world's course (jagad-yātrā) rightly, by his own discernment (sva-viveka), without a teacher yet; and that he has done so now, "today" (adya), at his age. The commentary: such a wonder, reaching as far as the vision of truth by one's own discernment alone, is seen in this prince of honoured mind in this very state. The emphasis on "his own" matters. The teaching to come will not give Rāma something foreign; it will complete what he has begun himself. The reader may take heart: what they see by their own honest looking is the start of the way, not a distraction from it.
