Meaning
The sages list the merits of Rāma's speech as a teacher grades an argument. Its matter is settled (pariniṣṭhita): it reaches conclusions. It has understanding (sabodha), is fitting (ucita), clear (sphuṭa), generous (udāra), pleasing (priya), worthy of the noble (ārya-arha), and free of agitation (avihvala). The last is the most telling: Rāma spoke of despair, but not in a disturbed way. The commentary: free of the fault of restlessness of mind. The reader may notice that one can speak of the darkest things calmly, and that this calm is itself a sign of truth.
