Meaning
What is true of Vyāsa is true of all the great names. There will be other Vyāsas and other Vālmīkis, and so with Bhṛgu, Aṅgiras and Pulastya, the ancient seers, some like the present ones, some unlike. The commentary: the same can be said of the other sages. Vālmīki, the narrator of this very work, is included. The tradition that seems fixed and unique is, in Vasiṣṭha's vision, one recurrence among many.
