Meaning
Mānasa is the lake at the foot of Kailāsa; the Uttaramānasa, the "northern Mānasa", lies beyond it. Vaḍavāvadana, the "mare's mouth", is named after the fire said to burn beneath the ocean; another commentary identifies it with the shrine of Hayagrīva.
