Meaning
The circle widens: Daśaratha and the kings like him; the townspeople (paura); the Pāraśavas and others, which the commentary takes as the rulers of lands such as Paraśu, lesser kings who pay tribute; feudatories (sāmanta); the princes, Bharata and his brothers, the commentary says; and the brahmins learned in the Veda. Every rank of the kingdom is there. The father who feared for his son's strange sadness now sits among those who listen to him. The reader may picture the hall, crowded and silent, and themselves somewhere in it.
