Verse 49

देवीं खड्गप्रहारैस्तु ते तां हन्तुं प्रचक्रमुः। सापि देवी ततस्तानि शस्त्राण्यस्त्राणि चण्डिका ॥ ४९ ॥

dēvīṁ khaḍgaprahāraistu tē tāṁ hantuṁ pracakramuḥ | sāpi dēvī tatastāni śastrāṇyastrāṇi caṇḍikā || 49 ||

Translation

'And they endeavored to kill the Goddess with sword strikes. Then, the Goddess Chandika, ...'

Meaning

The demons redouble their efforts, focusing on delivering lethal blows with their swords. The Goddess is now referred to by her fierce name, Chandika, indicating her wrathful aspect is about to be fully unleashed in response.
