Verse 3
तत्रासुरैर्महावीर्यैर्देवसैन्यं पराजितम्। जित्वा च सकलान् देवानिन्द्रोऽभून्महिषासुरः ॥ ३ ॥
tatrāsurairmahāvīryairdēvasainyaṁ parājitam | jitvā ca sakalān dēvānindrō’bhūnmahiṣāsuraḥ || 3 ||
Translation
'There, the army of the gods was defeated by the greatly powerful demons. And having conquered all the gods, Mahishasura became the Indra (the ruler of heaven).'

Meaning
This verse describes the decisive victory of the Asuras. The Devas are utterly defeated, and Mahishasura usurps the throne of heaven, taking Indra's title and position. This marks a complete overthrow of the cosmic order.
