Meaning
The gods begin to arm the Goddess for the impending battle. Shiva, whose primary weapon is the trident (śūla), bestows one upon her, symbolizing the power of dissolution and transcendent knowledge. Vishnu, the wielder of the Sudarśana cakra, grants her a discus, representing the power to destroy evil and protect the universe. She is thus endowed with the supreme weapons of both the preserver and the destroyer.
