Meaning

The fruits of rest are listed. Grief, fear and strain (śoka, bhaya, āyāsa) are gone; he has no more wanting (nirīha); his doubts are cut away (chinna-saṃśaya). Śuka returns to the summit of Meru, the place he came from, now to rest in samādhi. The commentary: free of doubt, and with no causes of distraction left, he went to the summit of Meru, which is favourable to samādhi. The circle closes. He left the mountain seeking and returns to it at peace. Nothing outside him has changed.
