Meaning
Vyāsa answers, and answers completely. He knows the Self (vidita-ātman), and he holds nothing back: all that was to be said (akhilam vaktavyam), as it is (yathāvat), and pure (amala). There is no failure in the teacher. This is important for what follows. When Śuka does not take the answer to heart, the fault is not in the teaching. The same truth, fully given, can be received or not received, and what decides it is in the hearer.
