Meaning
The practical conclusion. One must strive "by whatever means" (yathā tathā), by method (tantra) and by right application (sad-yoga), so that today's effort (adyatana) quickly wins. The commentary: one should exert oneself through scripture-taught striving and the company of the good, so that the effort of this life soon overcomes that of the past. The words "by method" and "right application" keep the guidance of scripture in view. The phrase "quickly" (āśu) gives urgency: the contest is going on now.
