Meaning

Here the sarga begins a series of portraits of what is rare. The great one is unshaken by misfortune, unproud in good fortune, and untouched by beauty. the commentaries agree. The equanimity of the Gītā's sthita-prajña, steady in both pleasure and pain, is meant. The reader is shown the ideal by its rarity.
