Meaning
The sarga ends in drutavilambita (twelve syllables a pāda) with a picture of the good youth (suyauvana). The commentary explains why the sarga needed it: if all youth were evil, there would be no hope of freedom, since childhood and old age lack the strength for the work. So it is not youth itself that is condemned, but bad youth. The good youth is humble, keeps the company of the noble, is bright with compassion and full of virtues such as calm and self-control. It is as rare as a forest in the sky: the commentary says, rare even in a human birth, how much more elsewhere. The reader is shown the ideal the whole condemnation has been protecting.
