Meaning
In his elephant form, Mahishasura attacks the Goddess's lion, trying to gain an advantage. But the Goddess is swift and precise. As he drags her lion, she severs his trunk—his primary weapon and sensory organ—with her sword. This is a decisive blow that cripples his current form.
