Chapter 3 · Tṛtīyo’dhyāyaḥ (Third Chapter)
Verse 10
दृष्ट्वा तदापतच्छूलं देवी शूलममुञ्चत। तच्छूलं शतधा तेन नीतं स च महासुरः ॥ १० ॥
dṛṣṭvā tadāpatacchūlaṁ dēvī śūlamamuñcata | tacchūlaṁ śatadhā tēna nītaṁ sa ca mahāsuraḥ || 10 ||
Translation
'Having seen that trident rushing towards her, the Goddess hurled her own trident. That (demon's) trident was shattered into a hundred pieces by it (her trident), and that great demon (was slain).'

Meaning
The demon Chikshura hurls his blazing trident at the Goddess (as described in the previous verse). In response, Devī effortlessly launches her own divine trident. Her weapon not only neutralizes his attack by shattering his trident into fragments but also continues its course to slay the mighty demon Chikshura himself, concluding his role in the battle.
