Chapter 11 · Ekādaśo’dhyāyaḥ (Eleventh Chapter)

ॐ ऋषिरुवाच ॥ १ ॥ देव्या हते तत्र महासुरेन्द्रे सेन्द्राः सुरा वह्निपुरोगमास्ताम्। कात्यायनीं तुष्टुवुरिष्टलाभाद् विकाशिवक्त्राब्जविकाशिताशाः ॥ २ ॥
ōṁ ṛṣiruvāca || 1 || dēvyā hatē tatra mahāsurēndrē sēndrāḥ surā vahnipurōgamāstām | kātyāyanīṁ tuṣṭuvuriṣṭalābhād vikāśivaktrābjavikāśitāśāḥ || 2 ||
Translation
Om. The sage said: With the great lord of demons slain there by the Goddess, the gods with Indra, led by Agni, praised Kātyāyanī, their lotus-like faces blooming with hopes fulfilled from the fulfillment of their desires.

Meaning
The chapter begins with the sage (Mārkaṇḍeya) continuing the narrative, addressing the king (Suratha) about the events following Shumbha’s defeat, introducing the deities’ praise of the Goddess. After the Goddess slays Shumbha, the gods, led by Indra and Agni, offer hymns of praise to Kātyāyanī, their faces radiant with joy and their hopes fulfilled, celebrating her victory and the restoration of divine order.
