Meaning
A slave sold to a master has no say over his life. Rāma feels that he and everyone are as if sold to fate, time and necessity, and bewildered by the "contrivances of the world" (prapañca-racana), the commentary says, the objects of sense, as deer are lured by the hunter's tricks. The verse names a feeling common to many: that one's life is being run by forces one did not choose. The teaching will show that the bond is in one's own mind.
