This meditation verse invokes the Goddess as Bhavānī, radiant and compassionate, armed with divine weapons and surrounded by spiritual powers, preparing the devotee for the intense battle against Raktabīja, emphasizing her compassionate yet fierce nature in the Uttara Charitra.

About chapter 8Raktabīja-vadha (The Slaying of Raktabīja) - Following the slaying of Chanda and Munda, Shumbha, enraged, sends vast armies and the demon Raktabīja to confront Ambika. The Goddess, joined by the Matrikas (divine mothers) and Kālī (Cāmuṇḍā), faces Raktabīja, whose blood spawns new demons. Ambika devises a strategy for Cāmuṇḍā to drink his blood, preventing further spawns, leading to his defeat and the gods’ celebration.
