Verse 53

तान् विषण्णान् सुरान् दृष्ट्वा चण्डिका प्राह सत्वरा। उवाच कालीं चामुण्डे विस्तीर्णं वदनं कुरु ॥ ५३ ॥

tān viṣaṇṇān surān dṛṣṭvā caṇḍikā prāha satvarā | uvāca kālīṁ cāmuṇḍē vistīrṇaṁ vadanaṁ kuru || 53 ||

Translation

Seeing those distressed gods, Caṇḍikā quickly spoke to Kālī, ‘O Cāmuṇḍā, make your mouth wide.’

Meaning

Observing the gods’ distress due to the multiplying demons, Caṇḍikā urgently instructs Cāmuṇḍā (Kālī) to widen her mouth, initiating a strategic response to Raktabīja’s power.
