Meaning

Again a request for an example (1.30.19), now more exact. The one to follow has seen how the world goes (dṛṣṭa-saṃsāra-gati), its harm, the commentary says; and has destroyed the seen and the unseen (dṛṣṭa-adṛṣṭa), the desire for the pleasures of this world and the next, by discernment and firm knowledge. Such a person still walks the paths of the forest (vana-vīthi) of the world; he has not left it. The reader may notice that the teacher they need is not one who has escaped the forest but one who knows its paths.
