Verse 22

संसारदुःखपाषाणनीरन्ध्रहृदयोऽप्यहम् । निजलोकभयादेव गलद्बाष्पं न रोदिमि ॥ २२ ॥

saṁsāraduḥkhapāṣāṇanīrandhrahṛdayō’pyaham | nijalōkabhayādēva galadbāṣpaṁ na rōdimi || 22 ||

Translation

My heart has become solid stone with the sorrow of the world, without a crack; and yet, only from fear of my own people, I do not weep with flowing tears.

Word by word

saṁsāra

lōka
people
bhayāt

Meaning

Another commentary explains his reason: if he wept, his family would weep too. So he hides his grief, out of love. The heart "without a crack" is closed: grief cannot get out and comfort cannot get in.
