Verse 9

जगाम सद्यस्तपसे स च वैश्यो महामुने। संदर्शनार्थमम्बाया नदीपुलिनसंस्थितः ॥ ९ ॥

jagāma sadyastapasē sa ca vaiśyō mahāmunē | saṁdarśanārthamambāyā nadīpulinasaṁsthitaḥ || 9 ||

Translation

He and the merchant immediately went for austerity, O great sage, situated on the riverbank for the purpose of seeing the Mother.

Meaning

King Suratha and the merchant Samādhi, inspired by the sage’s teachings, immediately undertake austerities on a riverbank to seek a vision of the Goddess (Ambā), addressing Mārkaṇḍēya as a great sage.
