Verse 3
बलावलेपाद्दुष्टे त्वं मा दुर्गे गर्वमावह। अन्यासां बलमाश्रित्य युद्ध्यसे यातिमानिनी ॥ ३ ॥
balāvalēpādduṣṭē tvaṁ mā durgē garvamāvaha | anyāsāṁ balamāśritya yuddhyasē yātimāninī || 3 ||
Translation
O wicked one, do not be proud, O Durgā, from pride in strength. You fight relying on the strength of others, you arrogant one.

Shumbha accuses Durgā of being arrogant and fighting with the aid of others’ strength, challenging her to face him without pride, setting the stage for her response.
