Translation
I worship Durgā, three-eyed, bearing the moon, whose nature is fire: radiant as a garland of lightning, seated on the shoulder of the lion, fearsome, attended by maidens whose hands gleam with swords and shields, and holding in her hands the discus, the mace, the sword, the shield, the arrows, the bow, the noose and the raised finger of warning.

Meaning
The meditation that completes the preparation. After it, perform the viniyoga and meditation of the first part and begin the Saptaśatī with “Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca”; each part’s viniyoga and each chapter’s meditation are given with the text itself. Recite with the mind on the Goddess, in a sweet, clear voice, dividing the words, steadily and at an even pace. Do not stop in the middle of a chapter; if the recitation is broken, begin the chapter again. Recite aloud rather than in the mind, neither too loudly nor in haste, from memory or else from the written text.
